This publication provides the Cabinet paper and associated minute of November 2024, in which Cabinet agreed to defence policy settings, including three new strategic defence policy objectives: to protect and promote the security of New Zealand and the immediate region, enhance the ANZUS alliance with Australia and New Zealand's most important security partnerships, and contribute to achieving New Zealand's global interests.

The pack comprises the following document:

  • the November 2024 Cabinet paper and associated minute of decision Defence Capability Plan 2024: Strategic Context and Framework [CAB-24-SUB-0420 and CAB-24-MIN-0420].
