Defence Assessment 2010
From time to time, the Minister of Defence can request a defence assessment that includes options for achieving the Government’s defence policy goals.

The Defence Assessment 2010 was undertaken at the request of the Minister and provided a thorough analysis of the state of play for the Defence Force, and recommendations for the future. The Assessment addressed a range of issues including the strategic environment, Defence’s contribution to national, regional and global security, the relationship with foreign policy, the alignment between needs and outputs, organisational structure, and personnel requirements. The Assessment was used to inform the Defence White Paper 2010.
